Posted almost 3 years ago Does anyone on NL know anything about dream analysis? I'm curious because I consistently have a dream with the same theme. this happens several times a week sometimes and I'm thinking that there has to be an underlying message. Does anyone else experience this? ~ Laugh as much as you breath and love as long as you live ~ |

| Posted almost 3 years ago The founder of Modern Psychiatry, Sigmund Freud, wrote a book entitled "Interpretation of Dreams" addressing the subject of dreams. Generally, he asserts, dreams are wish fulfillment. However, problem solving, also takes place in dreams according to him. Also, he asserts that self psychoanalysis occurs during dreams. It is interesting to note that many individuals with significant psychiatric problems have difficulty with sleeping and dreams implying that this "self psychoanalysis" that occurs in dreams is requisite for sound mental health. Physical illness, outside stimulation during dreams, anxiety, and internal irritants (like alcohol) can, also, result in "nightmares", he asserts. The book is extremely long but very interesting. |

| Posted almost 3 years ago Interesting information from both of you. Thank you. I have persistent recurring dreams about tornadoes. The scenario is always different but one main theme remains.....a tornado. I have done a little research and found that this may mean that I have some type of unresolved turmoil in my life. I've had this dream for many years but it stopped when I divorced my husband, which was about 4 years ago. Recently it has returned though. I have been under alot of stress lately so I have attributed it tot that. ~ Laugh as much as you breath and love as long as you live ~ |

| Posted almost 3 years ago GITANO, how did you know the Lion was my favorite Wizard of Oz character???? If you're the Lion I can definitely be Dorothy! I guess I did kind of figure it out, huh? Maybe I was just looking for affirmation or another possible explanation. The dreams aren't typically scary. Actually I'm usually very calm and level headed during them. What I typically feel during them is this kind of excitement....strange. ~ Laugh as much as you breath and love as long as you live ~ |
