Posted almost 3 years ago Good morning all, I am new in this forum. I am actually seeking advice from you before I apply to a nursing program. I started college as a nursing major and I also took my prerequisites. However, I didn't do well in my science classes (C grade in anatomy and physiology) I guess I was young and I didn't really focus/motivated. So, I ended up changing my major to healthcare management which I have a bachelor degree in. Now that I am in my late twenties, I want to go back to nursing; I want to finish what o started because I really care about people and it's my passion.the fact that I didn't do well in my sciences is there still hope for me.? Please help. |

| Posted almost 3 years ago Yes. you should go ahead and try again. I just started a program in NYC area after getting BA years ago. There are a lot of resources available to help you with AP. Videos off the net (even Youtube). |

| Posted almost 3 years ago I'm not sure where you are. But I'm in Chicago, and math and science classes must be completed within 5 years of admission to a nursing program. |

| Posted almost 3 years ago Heya! Go for it! If it's your passion then do it. Just because when you were younger you weren't as focused on your education doesn't mean that you can't do it. You can do it! I am currently working on my prerequisites here in Florida and the requirement here is you have to complete all your science classes within the the last 10 years prior to entering the nursing program. Otherwise you have to retake the classes. So really where ever you are you should check with the school your looking at and talk to them about what the requirements are. Also from everything I have heard going to nursing school and working fulltime doesn't work so well. Talking with the other students in my area those that have "flunked" out of the nursing school were working fulltime as well. The good thing at my school is that they have a part-time program that the students can then goto that is nights, weekends, and online classes. Takes them longer to complete the program but they can still get through it. |

| Posted almost 3 years ago Thank you so much for your advice...however, since my sciences are within 5 years and I didn't do well. So I am afraid that I will not get accepted. But I will stay positive. |

No, I'm not an RN. I'm taking pre-reqs. And regarding working and going to school, from what I've read on posts here I think it would be quite difficult. |
