Home care can be such a blessing as the patient grows and gets strong. I work as a pediatric home care nurse and I get such a blessing as these babies smile at me and gains new skills daily.

The hardest thing for me is when the baby dies. I was asked one time to sing at a patient's funeral by the family. It was hard but I was blessed to serve this family one more time.

That little peom or something like it was read at one of the baby's funeral. I still cannot even think of what I would do if I lost one of my girls.

The lost of a baby in home care is why when a baby gets stronger or makes progress is such a blessing.

I love pediatric home care; I feel it is one of the best jobs.  I tried working hospice but after losing my dad to cancer it hospice was to hard to deal with.

A hyper nature is a bonus in Pediatric Home Care; more so with the toddlers;  I work mostly with infants as  have a quiet artistic nature and sing to the babies wich they appear to enjoy.

I sang in the choir most of my life and started singing solo's in my 20's. I now have the blessing as duets with my hus band and at times with the choir director. I have thought about doing a cd for the babies.

It is always a great joy whenever we see patients get stronger/better but tremendous heartache when they fall.

I loved home health as well.  However, I worked with adult geriatrics mostly.  Peds terrified me.  Well, in about 8 weeks, supposedly, I will be out of remission with MS.  Since I took myself out of the game voluntarily, no firing, verbal or written reprimands are on my work record.  Im terrified of applying for another job when I want to go back to work <which was over 1.5 yr ago>.  Ok, if a person has gone without any falls < gimp episodes >, I dont want to look  bad when applying for work.  Plus there is no decent way to lie about as to why I was "lazy for 1.5 yr and just chose to play with my dogs during that time>, nope telling a lie would be horrible, so I need to work out a good truth.  Anyhow, I do love nursing and home health nursing.

Home Health is my niche, too!!!!!! I worked as a CNA in home health before returning to school for my LPN!!!!!!! It's not for everyone, but I enjoyed being on my own with my patients-gave me a sense of purpose!!!!!!!

I would love to hear what you enjoy about your job. Are you an RN? I am considering a position as a case manager... Anything you tell me would be great!

I loved being a home health RN/case manager for a huge chunk of my time working as a nurse.  Either you love it or you hate it, I loved it.  Also, when choosing to chase down the halls and yelling or getting yelled at in the hospital, I found it quite rewarding being able to drive around in NWGA.......in the fall and spring its wonderful.  Yall take care and get ready for the Great Pumpkin!!
