Is this fear?

Posted almost 3 years ago Hey ALL!! I was talking to my best friend the other day who knows that I have been struggling with the "Do I go to Nursing school? issue. She told me that she has noticed that I get all excited when I talk about Nursing and wanting to go to nursing school. But then she said she also sees times when I seem very doubtful. I didn't think too much of it when she said that until later when I got home. I started really thinking about what she said - and you know what - she is soooo right. I do go through these stages that I completely get worked up about nursing school and wanting to be a nurse - and then there are times that I go through a OMG I don't think I can handle that stage. There are times that I can hear something medically related and it doesn't bother me - but then again - later I might hear it again and there is that OMG I don't think I can handle that moment. Is this fear? I mean, yes Nursing has always been my passion to do - every since I was a little girl. I know the best way of really knowing if Nursing is meant for me is to get my feet wet and volunteer at the local hospital or shadow a nurse some to see what they really go through each day. How do you view this?

Posted almost 3 years ago It may very well be fear but do not let fear stop you from pursuing your heart's desire. If you don't go to nursing school you'll always question yourself and say what if. At 54, I'm taking pre-reqs to pursue a nursing degree. So put your big girls' on and take the steps to making your dream come true.

Posted almost 3 years ago Yaz08 - Congrats to you for pursueing your degree at 54. That is awesome! I appreciate everyones input. I'm going to do this. How's the saying go? There is nothing to fear but fear itself? I'm going to do this. How am I going to really know if I am going to be able to do it unless I try. Yes I know there are ways of working through my fears and my nervousness. My mom has been in the hospital for over 2 mths now due to having a stroke - I talked to one of her nurses this weekend while I was staying with her. He was very helpful in the information he gave me. He told me that he has been a nurse for over 20 years and he still has fears and has moments where alot of stuff bothers him - but he feels that he has one of the most rewarding jobs that any one could possibly have. Thanks again everyone!! I'M GOING TO DO THIS!!!

Posted almost 3 years ago You know doubting yourself can be healthy at the same time don't let it diture you either. Like others have posted chase after your dream and make it reality. Don't let others speak for you or make your decisions for you as truly you are the only that knows if you are happy with yourself or not. So go for it! Make it happen! You can do it!
