HEART

Opening my heart while I offer care to others is an art.  I know I can't learn it

in a class alone or without careful consideration.  I have to hone the art like

a painter who paints the same image 1000 times.

But if it's important to me, I know I can serve with heart.  That's the ability

to take another's story inside my own and allow it to make a difference.  It's that

ability to keep trying when I feel I've done enough.  Sometimes, it's just the

ability to say I'm a bit wounded.  To recognize my own limits and be considerate

 of my own needs.  It all takes heart.  It's an attentiveness to the greater dimensions

of my life of offering care to others.

O Divine love, empower me to bring my heart into my daily journey.  Help me to be

so committed to the art of serving with heart that it becomes a natural part of

who I am. AMEN.
