The darkest day of the year in the northern hemisphere is approaching. Like peering

through the keyhole of a door I don't want to loose hope of the light on the other

side.

Many of those whom I care for and sometimes, even those with whom I work, face darkness

in their lives. I want to be a light.

Considering the ways I can be a light begins with confronting the darkness in my

own life. I know there is a way through and it begins with my belief in the goodness

of who I have been created to be. I know that by being a light for others, I may

find the way through my own darkness.

God of day and darkness, never let me be consumed by a fear of the dark. There

is a cycle to all of life and the times of darkness lead to new dawns and beginnings.

Let this be my hope. AMEN.

ACTION: Do you have an opportunity to look up into the night sky and look upon

the stars? Try to give yourself a moment this week to look up and let a star give

you hope.
