Curious about Correctional Nursing

Posted over 2 years ago I am currently unemployed and most of my 18 years experience is in Community Health, Public Health Home Care and Clinics. I am interested in Correctional Nursing and am wondering if I would even qualify. What is it like to work in a jail or prison? Should I even apply for a position without having current acute care experience? |

| Posted over 2 years ago " To want to experience Correctional Nursing, it would be best to have some experience working with the elderly residents, ( long-termed care). There are a decent percentage of patients who recieve Psychology / Psychiatric referrals, when antidepressants / other behavior-modifying agents are initiated into therapy and staff are asked to document, " behavior mannerisms". To actually witness the effects of medications used and learn how to appropriately deal with the patient," when meds,peak-effect ", would be a good start,prior to advancing to Correctional Nursing. Just a suggestion." |
