I have a friend who is considering the change from acute care to home health care. They seem pretty similar to each other, are they?

To JonZ from hebrobrew@yahoo.com
I have been a homecare nurse for almost twenty years..\ What is involved is learning a whol diffrent way of doing things. It will also involve learning medicare rules & regs - a not impossible. I took the liberty of scanning other postings briefly I assume you have IcU or CCU or ER experience. If so GOOD it will stand you in good stead. Your already well honed assessment skills are crucial to a successful Home Care Career. The one big difference is that instad of the Patient being on Your "turf" you will be on theirs. My considered advice is to be "Cool" And remember your manners all your patients should be addressed as "Sir" or "Madam" or "Miss" it makes for many fewer complaints. The #1 rule of Medicare is Patients MUST be HOMEBOUND. It does not matter wheather they are Medicare, Medicaid or Insurance or other Payor. They can only leave home for a few select reasons. More about that later if you are interested.

I too have a Nursing history of ICU, CCU, and ER. Ihave also worked in Home Care for about 20 years.  I would be interested ina part time job as a Home Care Nurse (RN) in ThePee Dee area of South Carolina.   am familiar with mos t aspects of Home Health Care. I can safely use a VAC, Pro Time Machine and have a good record in drawing Blood and Starting IVs.  Please feel free to contact me if My nqualifications fit Your needs
