I was wandering is it better to bridge over to a RN program, are to go straight through, with transitioning. How many people have transitioned using the LVN bridge transitioning way, was it a faster way to becoming a RN.

I am a proud mother of three beautyful daughter. I currently live in Los Angeles California. I've worked as a heathecare provider for almost 10 years. I am curently in school to pursue my MSN in nursing, and wants to work as a pediactric nurse, in public health.

It depends on the options available where you live, and how the bridge program at the school in question works. I started out as an LPN. The program director promised me I could go straight to the 2nd year of the RN program if there was a seat, and I maintained a B average. She lied to me--I had a B average, and there were plenty of open seats in the RN class. But she didn't believe young women in their early 20s had the emotional maturity to be nurses, and told me so. She thought I should "wait a year, and get some experience". I told her "see ya!" and transferred to another school. However, because my LPN did not have a psych rotation, I had to make it up before I could be admitted to the program I eventually got my RN through. It prolonged my education by about 2 years as a result. For some people, going through a PN program allows them to start working sooner, and the rise in pay from what they made as CNAs justifies the baby steps. For others, becoming an LPN allows them to better see if nursing is really for them. And for others, the LPN program is the only one they can get a seat in (like me). You do what ya gotta do.

You were already a LVN, that surpassed your maturity. I don't know about this teachers some times. I think, I would go the long way. Thank you.

Hello,

Do anyone know about the travel jobs for LPN/LVN's? Also, is it wise to get the acls certification as a LPN?

I will get back with you one the first question. I think it is wise, if you are going to continue your education. I don't know what are you asking though, are you thinking about going through a acl program for a LPN. I live in California, and the only acl program we have is a one year private college program, and a program with Maxine Walters, that program is very intense, but it is well worth it.,and less expensive, private colleges is expensive though.
