Posted over 5 years ago Whatever you do...DO NOT use Penn Foster....please! I saw a neighbor's grade on her essay composition. It was a 97. That's great, but then I read her paper. Mispelled words and clearly written poorly. Actually, it was bad. A teenager in 8th grade could have written better. Penn Foster marked the paper in red ink hand written, "great work". I couldn't believe it. If I had handed that in to my english professor she would have laughed and threw it out. After that, the teaching was very poor. She was studying medical transcription. It was beyond what was acceptable and I even advised her to pull out of that online school. So be careful. Kaplan I heard was good.

Posted over 5 years ago Check with your local community college. Alot of schools are going to online courses, and some of them are completely online. They may be more cost effective for you, and usually have very good reputatations.

Posted over 5 years ago I agree: a community college or even a 4 year college or university may have enough online classes to get you through. And you can usually count on quality from a traditional school that has adopted an online model.

Posted over 5 years ago There are many great options available. I would suggest using the school finder tool at http://nursinglink.monster.com/education to request free information from different schools first. It's really useful to obtain free information about the schools. The schools will even have an admissions rep call you and answer any questions. It's a good opportunity to find out about the programs details as well as accreditation.
