Posted over 2 years ago I have been a stay at home mom and would like to go back to school and further my educationa and also have a career and i have chosen Nursing. Literally, what programs should i be looking at to take at a community college to start my way to becoming a nurse? Or maybe what are the prerequisites before any nursing courses? Please let me know as I am looking to start next semester and also I will be looking at financial aid etc etc. Your input will be greatly appreciated!THANKS! |

| Posted over 2 years ago When you go to your local community college you'll need to speak to the counselor. The counselor will give you a lot of the information as far as what the nursing program looks for as far as prereqs and GPA. My school wants a 2.0(C average), English 101, Psychology 101, Biological Chemistry and one of a variety of college level Maths, and has an extremely long waiting list. So if your CC is like mine you need to aim for as high of a GPA as possible so you don't have to wait so far down on the list. and that is for the RN. I have a friend in the LPN program and she said it's a lot more intense and they have tests almost every day and have to read about 10 chapter a night for homework but you have to take less prereqs and less non nursing classes once you get into the program. Overall there is just a lot to weigh. Wish you the best! |
