I'm trying to begin working on my Associates of Science in Nursing and I'm having a hard time trying to find a way that I may be able to start my basic classes (my pre-requisite classes like math, english, etc.). I would like to do these classes online but I can't find any information on how to do it. There's no way right now that i would be able to go on campus for at least another semester, so I thought it would best to take this semester online since it's only my prerequisite classes. Can anyone help me out on this. Where can I get these classes online so I can finally start on my A.A.S?

Hi stompah101788,

Let me first say congrats on making changes for your future.

I am working on my prerequisites and co-requisites right now as well. I will be getting my A.A. transfer degree in May 2011 and am applying to 4 different colleges for nursing school. Some are ADN programs and some are BSN programs. As far as taking the pre-reqs and co-reqs online you should be able to take most online through your local community college. But really that depends on the community college itself and if they have the staff to do that. I have taken several course through my community/state college which have ranged from Art Appreciation to Pre-Calculas and even Human Growth & Development. Some of the prerequisite courses will not be available on line but those are most often the lab class component of course. For example I had taken Anatomy & Physiology II online for the lecture but the lab class I still had to attend the college for that porition. So you can take many of the classes online you just need to contact your college and see what they have. If you cannot find much info online take some time to just go to the school student center and speak with an advisor. They should be helpful to you.

Good luck with your future!

I have to say thank you so much for taking the time out to answer my questions. I figured I would be able to take more of my pre-req classes online and of course when it came to taking the clinical classes I knew I'd have to go on campus. But I was researching my area for these classes and was having SO much trouble getting information. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait til next week to even make an appointment because I work so much! But I'm hoping to get started really soon. This is really the only way I may be able to get things ready to go. But I'm definitely working hard! Thanks again for the advice and the encouragement!
