Posted over 2 years ago a friend of mine asked me for nurse advice and i dont know the answer... she has just had a baby and wants to know the medical stance on fitted cloth diapers, now i have a persoanl stance but i do not know the medical stance and all i can find is positives online: www.jardinediapers.com/ and surely there must be some downside or else everyone would be using cloth diapers and huggies would go bust. ive had a quick search for brands so i can specifically ask about those: www.twenga.com/price-fitted-cloth-diapers.html but thats the problem, there doesnt seem to be one main retailer, nothing is repeatedly coming up as far as i can see so i cant research the main producer like i could with huggie cos I just dont know what it is! can anyone help me on this one? has anyone used them with their own child? is there even an official medical opinion? do they affect health at all?? i would really appreciate the help, i feel bad that i didnt have the knowledge to help her... especially being nurse and mother myself! thanks |

| Posted over 2 years ago I don't know that there's an official AMA opinion on cloth diapers vs. disposable diapers. (I did look on the website and found nothing) I'm really hard pressed to think of any real health disadvantages to using cloth. As long as the diapers are changed regularly I wouldn't think there would be much difference. I will tell you that my daughter was allergic to Luvs, and I didn't figure it out for several weeks. She had a horrible rash that got worse and worse and started to bleed. Finally I realized it was the brand of diaper. For me, it was really a matter of convenience. I had no desire to wash out cloth diapers either! Aisha ~ Laugh as much as you breath and love as long as you live ~ |

| Posted over 2 years ago thanks alot, i think youre right, that was all that i could think of, i really couldnt imagine any health disadvatages but i thought i should check, didnt want to be responsible for anything that might happen to the baby!! il pass all of that on and we'll see what my friend thinks |
The initial start up costs is more since you need plenty of them and plus you need the rubber/plastic pants to go over them, but other than that I think they probably save money in the long run. Plus, I could never get the darned things pinned properly anyway!!!
