Have any of you watched the show Nurse Jackie?  I have to say that I really don't like it.  I am a nurse who struggled with narcotic addiction and I find no humor in it.  It "glamorizes" it and that really bothers me.  There are alot of things in life we can look back on and laugh about, but addiction is not one of them.  I would love to know your opinions on this show.

I wrote an interresting blog about this show on www.nursenrecovery.com

I dont know about that show specifically. But medical shows in general tend to piss me off. The drama is so amplified and the medical scenarios are ridiculous! lol house is a good example of that.

its like how jerry springer takes desperate people wth real problems and uses them to make money by making it entertaining,

its disgusting.

Yeah, it kind of sucks that producers and directors will dramatize what the nursing profession really is - which in turn - creates stereotypes about our profession. What can you do? Just be the best version of yourself, I guess!

Yeah, Nurse Jackie is a well produced show but I find it hard to watch. It has it's funny moments (Zoe, Thor and the administrator) but as a whole I think the show would be better off without Jackie. If I want to watch a medical show I'll tune into Discovery Health Channel or watch reruns of Scrubs. ER wasn't too bad as I remember.

OK, I may get stoned and criticized here, but I loved Nurse Jackie. She was sort of of combination of everything wrong in nursing, but she really could get herself into situations, couldn't she? I think I also liked her because she was Tony's wife on the Soprano's. Another favorite that people will probably be shocked that I watched...

To all,

I actually watch Nurse Jackie and I think it gives some insight into addiction!  I also watch HAWTHORNE, too. Both shows what is going on in alot of medical professions. Nurse Jackie just shows what you shouldn't do, and HAWTHORNE shows what you should do.
