Posted over 2 years ago i really need some help answering this dilemia, please. senerio pt comes in for surgery,pt is told has to have angiogram or no surgery. procedure at 2200, pt brought back from procedure pt restless at 0530 pt cleaning kitchen. When confronted pt has no knowledge of cleaning. At 0800 pt wants to leave. pt leaves alone with help from nurse? pt is found wondering around outside emergency room confused. pt brought into er confronted by nurses in a frontational manner.pt answers questions somewhat. pt wants to leave to smoke cigarrette, pt non-smoker for 8months? nurse states everytime pt comes in from outside is more confused so must be doing drugs. nurse keeps trying to make pt sign an ama. nurse finally says she will do a drug test? nurse was very rough with confused pt as far as scratching and slapping real hard to try to get a vein to where pt says why are you hitting me? pt finally signs ama but insists nurse signs it to or won't sign. now i'm thinking this person was having an adverse reaction to the meds used for procedure. are the signs there or not why didn't they see this? what is wrong with this pic? |

| Posted over 2 years ago Hi.. could you lay this out a little clearer for me? It seems the patient was confused after the procedure and should not have been left unattended. What kitchen was the patient cleaning after this angiogram? What role were you playing? Was there a resource/charge nurse that could assess this situation? If you don't mind providing more information for us, it might help us to see waht was going on. Thanks. |

| Posted over 2 years ago sure, pt doesn't know what kitchen the staff was refering to as pt doesn't remember. as far as anyone assessing no one was putting anything together. pt was let go not once but twice. first was discharged from floor by themself. in other words no family or friend was with said pt. pt was found wondering around outside emergency room. pt brought in by? pt doesn't know as pt doesn't remember. nursing staff never checked to why discharged from floor just assumed pt was a drug addict as they stated everytime this pt leaves this pt comes back more confused. they did do a drug test. no results were noted too pt as they kept insisting on pt signing an a.m.a which was accomplished. pt went back to get a copy of drug results and now there missing? very good friend and in medical field also. from the description i immediately thought of adverse reaction but the way it was handled is very confusing to me.. |
