Posted over 2 years ago I'm about to graduate high school and I'm trying to decide between the three titles. I want a job where I make enough to support a family and still have a little extra cash. I would also want a job where I'm not working all the time, I would like to spend time with my family when or if I have one. Which one of these jobs best fits my criteria? |

| Posted over 2 years ago I really think you need to look past the titles, and maybe spend a great deal of time soul searching for what you would really like to do. All of the selections take a great deal of training, and money for training. Making big decisions like this should really have more thought and counseling put into it. What do you really want to do? You need to ask yourself, if money and time were no issue, what do YOU want to do with your life? And why? You have to know your why. If you don't don't your why about whatever you choose, you are going to get down the road when life gets tough and wonder how you got there. Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN

| Posted over 2 years ago Agreed. You need more education regarding all positions, not just these three. You really need to find what kind of work you desire to do. |

| Posted over 2 years ago Nurse doesn't even belong up there with those other two career paths. Both of those other choices are way more difficult to get into and complete than nursing. As far as the money goes there is no comparison. Im guessing even the lowest paid DR gets in excess of 125K/year and lawyers make good money but Im not sure what the starting salary is. There is not that kind of dough in nursing unless you are a CRNA or possibly a NP. Depending on where you live you might make 60K as an RN but not when you first start out. If you want to see what you need to know to become a DR just pick up an MCAT test book. The knowledge base you need is immense and you are going to spend the next 10 years of your life immersed in all things medical.Get a job with the railroad if you can its good money, you have a great pension and benefits and you wont kill yourself working too hard every day....... |

| Posted over 2 years ago Have you thought of becoming a nurse anesthetist. They make way more money thatn an RN. Every anesthesiologist and nurse anesthetist I know loves their job. I've been a nurse for sixteen years and I can say about 1/2 or less of the nurses I know love their job. |
