Hey all. I am new to the site but thought I would ask some experienced nurses/nurse managers out there: how does one successfully transition from LPN to RN? I don't mean in terms of clinical skills or critical thinking, but rather in how to find a job now that I am an RN. I worked for years in various long-term care facilities as an LPN, with some sub-acute experience, and now that I am an RN, I seem to be having a difficult time finding a job in acute care. I graduated at the top of my class with High Honors, will be done with my BSN in April, am a member of Alpha Beta Kappa Honor Society, am joining Sigma Theta Tau (Honor Society of Nursing), and received some other awards/honors during my time at school and upon graduation. However, I seem to have little to no luck getting call backs from prospective employers. A number of my classmates that struggled to get through get call backs and even jobs in acute care. My resume, according to a few of my professors, my friends, family and various other professionals I know, is well done. I am not sure what the problem is. Any advice?

It sounds like you have many accomplishments to be proud of. Have you tried volunteering in a clinic for networking and meeting  new people? Are you willing to relocate? Have you looked at www.monster.com for job opportunities in your area?
