Posted over 2 years ago I am in nursing school and I have heard stories about how more experienced nurses treat less experienced nurses. Is there some discrimination between the two. Has anyone experienced this? |

| Posted over 2 years ago " There are RNs who treat LPNs," indifferently", however, I do consider it a compliment when the RN would approach myself and ask:" I figured that you're more familiar with this,( med,procedure,etc.).Can you help me? Works every time." |

| Posted over 2 years ago Have you ever heard about nurses "eating their young"? That is a phrase I have heard for years. That can happen. There are certainly nurses out there with very strong personalities and it can seem overwhelming to a new nurse. Here is a good article about nurse bullies: http://nursinglink.monster.com/benefits/articles/9426-how-do-i-deal-with-nurse-bullies Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN

| Posted over 2 years ago I have heard about "nurses eating their young" however I have not experienced that myself. When I was offered my position as a new grad, I was treated with respect and everyone was helpful. Granted there are some nurses/people in general who just arent nice. Usually that is towards everyone and not just the newbies. My advice is be confident in what you know and be sure to ask when you dont. More respect is given when the pt. comes first and not ego. |
