Hi justgettingstarted40. Nursing link has a GREAT section for those considering nursing.

http://nursinglink.monster.com/education/nursing-101/articles/39/category?article_search[keyword]=&article_search[order]=publish_on?utm_source=whoareyou&utm_content=consideringnursing

There are many articles there for viewing. Also, you need to consider where you want to go to school. Visiting the nursing guidance counselor where you are thinking of getting started can be a big help.

It's never too late! You have the heart and desire...Taking that first step is what is important. I believe that most people can accomplish whatever they set out to do when they put their mind to it.

Just got my LVN last August at 51 years old.  Had an LVN position for 5 months which went away when census started decreasing. Since then haven't had an interview because I don't have at least "1 year" of experience.  Here in California they don't count clinical time as experience.  So my only warning would be to make sure you make connections for your first job all the way through your nursing training.  I'm doing some private duty stuff right now, but it's more like being a companion than a nurse.  I know if I hang in I'll get an LVN job again just not when.  Good luck.
