What kind of nurse are you? Why did you choose that career path? Would you choose something different knowing what you know now?

I have worked in several areas, but ended up in Oncology for the past 12.5 years. I am now involved in wellness coaching, and using my natural health passion tied in with my nursing. To be honest, if I had realized years ago, I could have combined my nursing with my passion for natural health, I would have already been there and now be in full swing with it.

But, I have also had traning that is very valuable in being a manager, etc that is beneficial to my being a wellness nurse now. So, all my experiences have helped with where I am now.

I have worked in many areas - as an LPN L&D then to surgery as I was working on my RN. Graduated and went to the ED where a stayed a long time; I moved to psych where I have remained in a variety of roles from staff to supervisor to Director and even an 8 month stint as Acting Ns Exec.  Moved to qualkity and risk both of which I love. I also have been teaching at the undergrad level increasing the levels as I worked on my MSN. I will finish my MSN in 13 weeks and want to teach student nurses as well as continue my clinicals so I do not become stale. I also have a very soft spot for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) - there is so much more we can do for our patient/clients.

Would I do anything differently? Go to school to get a BSN work then do my MSN sooner. I loved each of the areas I worked.

Sometimes one's choice in nursing is limited to where they can find employment.  In my case, that has turned out to be long term care and home health.

Thanks Head_Nurse. That was a great link! Remember, thinking outside the box can bring very creative jobs. I am getting a new job as a nurse educator that travels. How fun is that? I am getting off nights/weekends in 3 more weeks!

Your right Herbal nurse, that was a great link it had options to consider that I had not thought about exploring.  Thanks Head Nurse!

Herbal Nurse-that sounds like a great job.  Please let me know how it goes.  The good, the bad and the ugly!
