Excommunicated hospital?!

Posted over 2 years ago Woah! Just read this article in the news section about a bishop excommunicating a hospital because they saved the mother instead of the child? Pretty crazy that he also tried to excommunicate the nun who approved the decision. Do you work at a hospital with a religious affiliation? Who are these people calling the shots? Shouldn't it be the patient's choice? Read the article here: St. Joseph's Contreversy |

| Posted over 2 years ago " It does sound,"far gone",however, this is the Catholic church.Having been raised a Catholic, with extended family members affiliated with the Clergy, it has been indoctrinated/educated to us since we were baptized and so on :" a life is a life". It is understandable that medical personnel had prioritized the Mom's life, however,Catholics have always held, "life begins at the moment of conception",I suppose maybe the hospital in question can,"write to the Pope for dispensation", especially when this can be granted to nuns / priests, for their own decisions, decide to "leave their professions, thus, may desire ,"to continue to be practicing Catholics". **Don't want to rage a war, just stating a fact of the matter".** |

| Posted over 2 years ago Wow, I'm not Catholic, but I consider myself a pretty fundamental Christian, and wow, I have to say I am pretty blowed away by this. I also believe life begins at conception, but, who decides who lives and who dies? I think it was pretty awesome they were able to save the mother. I have to say, if my daughter were pregnant, and both were struggling, I would want my daughter saved if only one could be saved. It's not that I don't respect the life of the fetus. I highly respect that life. But, I'm just sayin... Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN

| Posted over 2 years ago This sounds like a lose, lose situation depending on how one looks at the decision. |
