Posted over 5 years ago I've been an LPN for 26 years and always planned on getting my RN, just never got around to it. I am not displined enough to do independant study, and don't have the energy/ desire to be a college student, but recently heard of a blended learning system, where you have a 4 hour class a week, then study on your own. At the end of that course (6-8 weeks/per), you go to a testing center, then the next week start the next course. After you finish the course work, there is a 2-3 day clinical to pass, then you can sit for state boards. The degree is from SUNY. Anyone have any experience with this? They advertise pass rate at >93%. I think I could do it...discuss... |

| Posted almost 5 years ago What this sounds like is a combination of independent study and "study materials" offered through Distance Learning Systems. The test u will take are very similar if not the same as Excelsior College exams. You will pay Distance Learning or the guys who are offering once/wkly classes fees (usually pretty expensive) in addition to fees to take exams. Excelsior College is based in NY and is the ONLY program I know of that allows u to advance from LPN-RN, ADN in this manner. Someone correct me if this if this has changed. For this program independent study is a must, remember u will only attend class once a week and will probably need to study in between. This blended learning from Distance Learning systems is not much more than a publishing company of study materials that require u to attend class once weekly to review as a group. Prior years I looked into blended leraning and wasn't up for attendig class 3 hrs away.
the journey of a thousand miles start with a single step Best of luck 2 u! |
