I have some ink already on my back, that's easily covered and I'm planning on getting more; a butterfly on my forearm and a a trailing vine with flowers on my calf. I just wonder how this would affect my ability to get a job? What's the prevailing trend in regards to dress code and ink?

I definitely would cover everything for the interview and would abide by the dress code if hired.  It is simply a matter of accommodating your looks to keep your job.  That is why it is sometimes best to be conservative in placement of tattoos.  Nobody should be looking at your back while you are doing your nursing tasks anyway!  Good luck in your interviews.

Yes, people shouldn't judge your ability based on whether you have tatoos or not. Unfortunately, many are not so open yet, and understanding with the self expression. I would probably cover up during interviews.

I kinda thought so, my general style for a job interview is conservative; well-fitted, dark pant-suit with nice shoes and understated makeup and jewelry. I was debating on getting a small butterfly on my forearm but think I will find another place for it or just wait to see if and when the dresscode/attitude towards ink changes.

Thanks ladies!

Body ink has been around for a long time.  Recently it has become the thing to do with many people.  Some employers are not as open-minded as others, but most have accepted this as long as they are not offensive, and if so, are covered.  Personally, body art is not for this body, but I am pretty open about the changing of our cultural ideas.
