Posted over 1 year ago Medical field is shifting online, and nurses are no exception. Nurses are similar to physicians in terms of the amount of time they spend using the Internet per week, and once online, nurses are comparatively a digitally savvy group. The majority of online nurses uses social media sources, downloads audio files, and watches video online.

| Posted over 1 year ago I definitly am very web savvy, and am active on Facebook, and Twitter as well as have my own website, and moderate here, as well as write for several websites and magazines. So, I'd say as a nurse I definitly connect with the web and social media. I now have an iphone and listen to classes from an mp3. Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN

| Posted over 1 year ago This is a given in today's workplace. Only becomes a problem when nursing personnel misuse devices while on the job. Nobody should be attending to their social networks instead of doing their job. |

| Posted over 1 year ago This is my first and only social network. I used to be on Facebook and I did not get it. I do not have time to tell everyone (including people from high school that did not talk to me then) that I am eating a P&B sandwich. I guess I see it's uses, but it seems that it is abused by so many. It's great for making connections and developing relationships. It also is a breeding ground for people to post inappropriate things without your consent which can make you look bad to potential employers. It has pros/cons. I like this site though b/c it is professional. I am very internet savy, good with Microsoft office, have decent typing skills, and am awesome at emailing! I also usually pick up quickly with new computer programs such as Electronic medical record keeping systems and EMAR's at various hospitals! I have the necessities! I do not get Twitter and the rest of the social media sites. Can anyone tell me the point? Never Give Up! |

| Posted over 1 year ago I am on FB and twitter. Very active. I will check out your site on FB. I am very interested in self care of nurses and caregivers as well as the health and wellness of nurses and caregivers. And yes, texting and attending to social media things while at work should be a no-no. We are getting ready to be paper free in about 6 weeks. We will use digital devices to check armbands prior to med admin, and all orders will be placed in the computer, not written. Big change coming our way.
To limeek, I have met many nurse friends on FB and twitter. I am glad you enjoy this site. It is very professional. I am the moderator here, and always on the look out for things that shouldn't be here, and I take care of those situations, along with the Head Nurse, and Editor. We are trying to keep this a safe domain for nurses. Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN
