Watch you post on Nursing link

Posted over 2 years ago My former employer is being sued. I was subpoenaed as a witness for the plaintiff. My former employers lawyer found my posting on nursing link and used them agaist me. I did not post anything horrible. He just pulled up the posting where I commented on former employers etc. He was trying to make me look like a disgruntaled employee. Oddly enough he did not use my hundreds of other comments. Be careful what you post. To add to this post. The same former employer(HCRMC) had numerous write up on me that I never seen. Nor did I do any of what was written on those forms. My signiture was not on them as well. They tried to make me look like a bad nurse. What levels these companies will sink to. |

Posted over 2 years ago This is why I won't become a 'verified' nurse, nor will I submit any referrals. I want to be anonymous.

Posted over 2 years ago Sorry this happened to you. You always need to remember anything you write can be found. It doesn't stop me from being verified, though. I don't want to be anonymous. I want to be real.

I connected with another nurse that posts on a nursing site that I frequent. Now I am sorry that I did that. It has put a tremendous damper on how I view posting on that site. Best to remain anonymous. |

Posted over 2 years ago I am a real person, with a real license. I don't need nursing link, to validate me or give me their stamp of approval. My bread and butter is my job, not some random posting or input that I put here on NL. I don't want anything to jeopardize any of that.

Posted over 2 years ago There is no good samaratin act that will protect you, if you give advice here on NL, no matter how good the advice or how well intentioned it is. Hence, I will remain anonymous. I've seen people who did the right thing, still have to settle out of court......I'm not putting my name, license, or place of employment out there for some nutjob to grab ahold of.

Posted over 2 years ago I agree I will never post anything again on any site unless it can't be traced to me.

Posted over 2 years ago Umm, do any of you have memberships to grocery stores like Safeway or Ralphs? And everytime you punch in your number you get a discount? Yeah, those...I'm pretty sure most of you have one, so you're already being tracked....way before the Internet even started. People should use the Internet responsibly and understand anything you do is tracked. Every time you log on, send an email, check out certain sites -- these are all being tracked. How else do you think advertisers are able to show you relevant ads? It's almost impossible to remain "off the grid" so I think posting on NursingLink should be the last of anyone's worries if they aren't posting anything "horrible." Maybe you should have checked best practices for perusing the web before posting on a public forum. Whoops.

Posted over 2 years ago Maybe people should understand how the web works...that would also be good practice.

Posted over 2 years ago Good practice is also being kind

Posted over 2 years ago What does being kind have anything to do with surfing the internet?

Posted about 2 years ago As for being anonymous, no one really is. For instance in this Anonynmous Zone on NL, you are not completely anonynmous, someone knows who posts. If they did not, how would you get your 2 reputation points. Also you need to use a computer to get on here. It is possible to trace back to you ISP. I do not care who know who I am, I just keep my very personal info to myself......Nursejohn

Posted about 2 years ago AT least what ones posts won't be read when they are googled.

Posted about 2 years ago Perhaps. To add to NurseJohn's comment, I researched the "In Private Browsing" and found that it will erase much of the tracking data off of the hard-drive, but not all. Identities can be recovered even when using that. That said, I shred my docs 10 times, then erase the tracks. If you are worried about security and don't know what that means, it's worth looking up. - drtomconrad -
