Posted over 2 years ago Has anyone ever heard of a hospital help paying for a nurse to go to med school? I know of hospitals giving tuition reimbursements for nursing school, advanced training, etc. Know any RN's to MD's? |

| Posted over 2 years ago I've known RN's that became CRNA's or NP, but don't know any that became MD's. I've known RT's, EMT-B's, and EMT-P's that became MD's. Probably because the easiest and most lucrative next step is often CRNA. |

| Posted over 2 years ago I think it would be great to ask your hospital. I know that you can get assistance from some state available funds if you will agree to work in a rural area. I would contact agencies in your particular state as well. Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN

| Posted over 2 years ago I found out that one of the doctors who took care of many of our LTC residents had been an RN in her former life. I felt that explained the fact that she actually came to the facility and did rounds with the nurse on duty. She got involved with her residents and really did her job the way it was meant to be done. She may have become a doctor, but she never stopped being a nurse. |

| Posted over 2 years ago I would still check out your state for scholarships for rural areas. These are hard to fill, and you can oftentimes find scholarships if you agree to work in these areas. Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN

| Posted about 2 years ago I've checked out state scholarships for rural or under served communities but it doesn't state whether or not I have a choice where I'm placed and I refuse to work somewhere where my safety will be at risk. Thanks for all the responses, I greatly appreciate it. |

| Posted about 2 years ago OK. I think there are usually choices given, but I can't speak for your state. Have you called and spoken to someone? Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN
