Posted over 5 years ago My name is Wendy. I have been a caregiver close to ten years. I have 3 wonderful daughters, ages 14, 12, and 9. I am currently divorced. I am planning to start CNA training this spring. I once cared for my disabled mother for nearly 10 years. She had numerous medical problems, and I learned so much from different registered nurses. She needed around the clock care, and my father and I took the responsibility of managing her care at home. Now that she has passed, I am inspired to become a nurse. I really love helping others. It's going to be a challenge, but what in life isn't! I need to prepare myself and my children for the future. A nursing diploma would be a wonderful accomplishment. Take care, everyone. |

Posted over 5 years ago Welcome to the fold, Wendy. You'll do just fine. After that CNA program, check out a possible nursing career. It's a pretty decent way to make a living.

Posted over 5 years ago My name is Tom. I am a Nurse Aide at a very nice nursing home in Michigan. I have had the opportunity to work with many skilled aides and nurses who have helped me in my second career. I find it challenging working with dimentia and diabetic residents. It is the most meaningful work I have done yet in my life. At the end of the day it feels awesome to say I actually made a difference, no matter how small, for residents that really need you there for them.

Posted about 5 years ago I would like to welcome all of you! You will find good, sound advice from many veterans here. Good luck to all of you in your future plans! Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming "Woo-hoo"!!!

Posted about 5 years ago Welcome Wendy! I have just completed the C.N.A. class for Kentucky. We are now called S.R.N.A. (State Registered Nurse Aides), and I have recently been accepted to the RN (ADN) program. It has always been a dream of mine to become a nurse as well, so we are in the same boat. Welcome!
