| Posted almost 2 years ago nillehart, REALLY check out the schools and see if they are accredited in the country you want to work in. I worked with several persons who were medical school graduates from different Caribbean schools. They were all working as un-certified Physicians Assistants for the Bureau of Prisons. I had been a Nurse Practitioner until the requirement was switched to a Masters, but I know that when the Chief Medical Officerch went on vacation, he asked me to do his clinics for him and when we lost our pharmacist, he tried to use these Carib-trained docs to run the pharmacy, he had to send me in to clean it up (and I was only working half-time because I had just had a double spinal fusion). Please check out the schools in the country of your choice. If you are going to move here, you are not as constrained as someone who is here and has a house and family in a certain area. You can look at all schools with an even hand and see if some have earlier openings than others. Coming from the UK, it will not cost you much more to travel to Nevada or New Hampshire or Idaho or Florida. Tom, PhD, MPH, BS(N), RN-C, CHN |
