I am a nursing student and I am currently deciding between getting a BA in another area related to nursing then getting a ASN degree OR just getting a  BSN. I am passionate about being a nurse. I have been by nurses that both routes are good. One nurse told me that  BA in a nursing related field plus as ASN would make me more diverse in the nursing field and I would still be able to move up in the field into leadership positions. They also said that if I ever change my mind in nursing that I will always have another degree to fall on. On the other hand, I have also been told that I need to just get a BSN because it is more marketable and that a BSN is the only way that I can move up into leadership positions. Which is right?

. Right now I can't afford to get a BSN and a BA so I must make a decision and move forward. Thanks!

I think your decision is only one you can make. You need to weigh your options, and really ask yourself what it is you want. Do YOU want to be diverse and have a BA and ASN? Do you just want to be a nurse.  Think about it.
