I just had such a rough clinical day.It was my second day on the floor and I had three patients, had to complete written head to toe assessments and careplans for each patient and pass meds on two of them which included hanging piggybacks and flushes. (All for the first time) The paperwork alone was a bit overwhelming, then one of my patients ripped out her iv and i had to start a new line but couldn't get it..... :( Super long and rough day. Not to mention that my son was up the entire night before because he was sick.  Can anybody else relate to having rough days while in clinicals? I think it would just help to know I'm not alone!! :)

LOl, Welcome to the jungle... It won't be that way for long.. You'll be all over that floor in no time....Take you duties one at  a time. Get the patients are able to do caren  by them alone. Set them up, and telll them you'll be back to check on him soon.. Then do that. The next part is the patients that needs helpp.. Proritize your work.. Best wishes to you.. I know you'll be a very awesome nurse.. Pleasde let us know how you are doing... Hugs, Teresa

I have been a nurse over 20 years, and still have shifts that go slow, and I feel like I am behind, and well,  it just happens to us all!!! Check out that great article, and also agreeing with Teresah! It will get better. You know how simple your ABC's are right now? There was a time when those seemed overwhelming. You will do great. Hang in there!

Ok. The roughest day in cllinicals.....I have to say was day 1 of my clinicals in school... We were assigned 2 patients each.. I had an ambulatory and a complete care patient.  So naturely I went to see how my comp, ete care patient.. Well to my surprise I went to introduce my self to them and also to size up my total care patient.

When I walked into his room, (fainting was not allowed), I then saw in bed with 2 broken arms  and 1 broken leg, my brothers best friend... Yes it was,,LOL He had been in a motorcycle accident.  but at this time he was wide awake....You know until today he still asks for another bed bath... Ugh...(Today it is funny , but it was very trauimatic for a brand new 16 year4s old nurse... Teresa
