Good Morning!

I have applied to a local nursing program that is quite competitve. This weekend I received a letter that stated my packet was accepted as complete and now I am invited to attend an open house. This program does not conduct interviews, and the letter said that I should bring all my questions.... I have been around the nursing field for years. My mother was a CNA and student nurse during my teen years and I pretty much grew up in the hospital and going to school with her. I feel like I know what to expect as far as difficultly, crazy study time, and clinicals... But I know it would make a good impression if I had some questions with me. Any suggestions on some things I should ask? Or could anyone give me an idea of questions that might be asked of me? I feel a little thrown off not having an actual interview! The letter said it could greatly improve my chances of being accepted if I attend and I really want to stand out.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give me!

If you decided you want to be a nurse it means you care enough to learn how to help people in need.  When I was accepted into the Nursing program there was no interview, I'm not sure what they will ask you, but I think they might focus on why you want to be a nurse and if you think you are capable of handling this program.  You must dress professional and always be on time.  Responsibility and reliability is very important in this field.  You can ask if this program is self directed or teacher directed.  Some programs expect you to view classes on computer and the responsibility is up to you to view the work.  It's always nice to be able to ask a teacher questions but if there is not a teacher available you should know who to cantact.   You can ask if they have any programs to help nurses adapt to the stress of the work world.  Many nurses have difficulty handling the workloads they are faced with as a new nurse.  Don't get discouraged, if you stay focused on what you want, make sure you make the time to study and take care of yourself, you can succeed and have the job you love.  Best wishes for you.
