Hi my name is Sandy and I am a nurse who was diagnosed with MS in 1999 at the age of 44. I have relasping-remitting MS. My mother had MS and so did my uncle. I had a TIA and had tingling and slight numbness in my left arm and left leg. That is what led my doctor to sending me for an MRI. I was lucky to be working in a hospital who had a great DON and we sat down and talked about what I could do and could not do. I am currently taking Copaxane and it has seemed to slow down the MS. On of the things about MS, I get very tired and stress and MS does not go well. But what nurse or anyone working in this field does not get stressed out at one time or another. I am not bothered by the fact that many of my patients know I have MS. I feel it has helped me be a better nurse, and more understanding with patients who are going through something like an incurable disease such as myself. But this has not slowed me down. I was a LPN when I found out I had MS and went on to become an RN. I still can do most everything I did before and want other who may have MS, NOT TO GIVE UP and stay busy!!!

Do you know, work, or have a family member with MS? Can you share a story with us about that person you know?
