Make sure your sign on bonus is paid by the hospital or your end of assignment bonus is paid by the hospital, otherwise it will come out of your figured pay. One off the top of my head is true staff...another I am going with is Trinity and the other is Millinium Staffing. I think PHP is a PTO company too! Also check out highwayhyopdermics.com they have the top 10 rated companies from travel nurses.. Hope that helps you some! Emma~ |

How much time you spend out of town depends on the company and the assiignment. It's full time employment for the length of the contract, which can be anywhere between 4 and 16 weeks, with 13 being average. The best agencies put you up in an apartment that is paid for. THe quality of the digs will depend a lot on how expensive the area is to live in. San Diego might require you to share an apartment. I was supposed to share a house in the Outer Banks of North Carolina on my last travel job, and got lucky: the other nurse never showed up. Got a beach house on the ocean side all to myself for 16 weeks :D Usually, I've gotten a 1 bedroom apartment, furnished, for the length of my assignment. The first wasn't in the best of neighborhoods, so on subsequent assignments I got the company to allow me to find my own place, then they paid the bill. Whether or not you can bring pets will depend on the type of housing, and the management of the housing unit. If they allow pets, then yes. You might have to pay a pet deposit, and you would be responsible for any damage to the apartment. I enjoy traveling: I plan to take the summer off from teaching and take an ER assignment just to keep my skills up and take a working vacation :D |

| Posted over 5 years ago Oh, and while the company usually pays the rent as part of your compensation (which is tax free btw), you usually have to pay utilities. And furnished doesn't mean a TV. I have a small one I take with me on assignment :D |
