I was wondering what the main difference is between sub-acute and rehab in terms of pace and treatments. I don't work in a hospital, so I'm kind of out of that world. I'm mostly wondering because I'm about to have knee surgery in a couple of weeks (after 35 years of nursing I need new knees!).

I worked on a sub-acute unit . It was a 21 bed facility and we took patients who just had hip and or hip and knee replacements. These patients came down to us a few days after surgery. We did help with rehab, such as CPM's for knee replacements, but PT would also come down take the patients to PT also. I guess the difference is that you got to stay in the same hospital you had your surgery instead of being transfered to another hospital for rehab.
