Posted over 5 years ago ok folks.... I posted a question out to my friends on NL regarding posting videos. I've received a bunch or replies indicating that many of you are having the same trouble as I am. Currin also replied with a specific solution.. and I've had trouble implementing.....So.. here's why I put up this forum topic in stand-alone format:
So folks who are having trouble with posting videos.. post here and let folks now so you can get help. And.. if you're one of the ones who are good at posting videos... don't hold out on us. Tell us how.... pleeeeeease? LOL FYI - Currin sent me a solution which looked easy enough. Not sure if I was doing something wrong.. but, I could not get it to work. (had to be user error). Either way... I'll let Currin post the solution here for you folks to try. Let us know if you get it to work. |

| Posted over 5 years ago My personal... first question for the site admins and engineers is... why not just allow folks to copy and paste the URL to the video? Most sites that offer video allow users to paste in the URL and be done. I'd rather not collect large video files on my hard-drive. I'm not CNN or YouTube. :-) Thanks.... I look forward to your answer. |

| Posted over 5 years ago Oh, I gave up on videos a while back. Frustrating! First of all, I was worried about posting someone else's video on this site without permission. So, *first question*: If it's on a place like YouTube, is that an issue I need to worry about? *Second issue* my problem was getting it saved to my computer, I could never get it -even downloaded the suggested "egg" thingy with no avail. TCN, I LOVE your idea about posting the link. How easy would that be, right? That sounds like a perfect solution. We already do it for posting news. There are some that are loaded directly to the site and there are some that we need to leave the site to learn more about. Someone's got their thinkin' cap on today... |

| Posted over 5 years ago Because if not, then I usually edit it down into two parts using the VideoEgg tools. |

| Posted over 5 years ago NursingLink friends - I apologize that it is not totally intuitive how to upload videos. If you have already checked out our Video Uploading Guide and still are having issues, let's look at a few key issues. One, be sure your browser and operating system work with the 'Video Egg' program. Two, be sure the format you are saving it in works with the 'Video Egg' program. (Both pieces of information can be verified with the Video Uploading Guide Instructions. Three, be sure the video is five minutes or less. If all these things are correct, there should be no problems. If there still are, then personally message me and I will try and help you specifically. |

| Posted over 5 years ago I spent over an hour messing with the video thing yesterday; to no avail. I plan on emailing Currin as she suggested, but wanted you all to know Video Egg does not like me or my computer. I hope it's my computer. *cd:* I can't remember where I got the instructions to download the Video Egg program. I thought it was on this site somewhere. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. |

| Posted over 5 years ago cdnurse said: Video Egg is simply the name of the program used on NursingLink. You do not need to download 'Video Egg' or anything. Basically you could just call it "The NursingLink Video Uploading System" |

| Posted over 5 years ago OK... Currin gave me a link and though there were lots of pesky pop-up ads, it worked!!!! I posted my first video.. and got an instant 12 pointeroooski's for my score. YehhhhBuddy! ok.. here's the step-by-step: Go to YouTube... (or wherever you like to search videos) and search whatever you like. I searched the word "medical" just to see. When you find a video, and you've navigated to the page with the video on it ready to be played. Stop right there.. and open a new browser window. Go to http://www.zamzar.com/url/ Now, go back to the window with your YouTube video. Copy the address to the window from up in the address bar... not the link on the right for "embedding". Just the address from address bar on your browser. Paste the URL (address that you copied) into Step one. In step 2, you'll need to choose a file type that you want to convert to. I used 3gp and it worked. If 3gp is not a choice then, choose flv. Step 3.. enter the e-mail address you want them to send the converted file to. **** what happens next is not very exciting.. you have to wait for their system to do it's thing. Then.. could be hours later... they will send you an e-mail. Follow the link in the e-mail to download your converted file. Save it on your computer where you'll be able to find it. (you may want to name it something easy to remember) Then, go to the video area on NursingLink and go through the process to upload. Use the "browse my computer" function to find the file when you get to that point. Happy posting! OH.... wait.. be sure to look for the Video: Matrix 101: Medical School on Nursing Link and rate it and and comments. Thanks!
