Posted over 5 years ago I have an advanced directive that I did at the hospital where I work. A notary is right here to get it notarized and it was done. I feel better now that I have something in written form, two of my collegues co-signed for me. I would imagine every hospital probably offers this service to their employees.

Posted over 5 years ago Hey!!! Can I help it if I believe everything you say? There is a website called RocketLawyer. com On it you can write out a living will (or anything else you want) then print it out and have it witnessed by someone other than a family member and it's legal. I did it recently. No cost.

Posted over 5 years ago Thanks for the pointer Char...been tryin' to get my hubby to do that for a while now! BTW, you DO need to take cd with a grain of salt...you ought to know by now that she's a crack-up (NOT a crack-POT) keeping all of us in stitches! Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming "Woo-hoo"!!!

Posted over 5 years ago I have a Health Care Proxy, as Living Wills are not legal documents in my state (MA). I filled mine out at the suggestion of a friend before I was to have some day surgery a few years ago. I remember thinking "who is she kidding? I am too young to worry about that kind of stuff". I must say, I am glad that she did it, and I got everything squared away at the time....I have a copy, and my PCP has a copy, as do those listed as my proxies. A great thing to have. As an aside, I also did a teaching project in nursing school about the topic and, guess what?? most of my classmates didn't know a whole lot about the subject, but we all realized that, whether we wanted to do it for ourselves or not, it would definitely come into the scope of our work with patients in the future as RNs:)

Posted over 5 years ago It is so very imoportant to have a Will and a Living Will. I have seen too many sad results from no wills.

Posted over 5 years ago I agree. I do have a Living Will, it is just not considered a legal document where I live/work. It would apply if I was in a state where it is considered a legal document. As for Will and Testaments....I agree...VERY important to have them, and also to have them updated as situations change!
