I'm just curious about this whole thing.. I've been out of school for a few years, with only less than 6 months experience... I wonder if I still be considered  a new graduate?

Hum. I am not sure about that one. I usually considered a nurse not a new grad after about a year's experience.

I see, so even if one has been out from school for years, it is only measured in the number of months or years of experience that they are considered a new grad or not?

That is how I would look at it. But, I am not the final answer on this one. Maybe other nurses have different ideas?

i work with nurses that feel they are still new nurses and they have 2 years exp. people can be a new nurse and appear to be a seasoned vet just depends on your confidence level.  the one nurse i work with we started 2 mths apart her as a nurse me as an stna and never once thought she was a new grad shes the nurse i mold myself after i hope after 2 years ill be as confident as she is :)

according the companies ive interviewed with, you are only a new grad until the following year's class graduates, then they are the new grads.  a "new nurse" (which is based on a nurse's experience) is a whole other story.  i agree, i think employers consider you new until you have 2 years experience but, since even after graduation and as a working nurse, you never stop learning, "new nurse" is possibly interpretational, a slow process where as months and years go by, you realize that there are mounting number of people newer than you!!!!!  that's my interpretation.
