I have read articles about choosing nursing as career, and even taking a quiz to see if you are nursing material. I wanted to add this, to all the potential nursing student out there, and to all the nurses that all ready know. Nursing requires a range of skills and abilities to perform the job well. Nurses face many challenges on the job-from heavy workloads to long hours on their feet. Review this checklist to see if you fit these job characteristics. Nurses must:

1. Show caring and sympathy
2. look for ways to help others
3. demonstrate emotional stability in stressful situations
4. have good observational skills
5. have physical stamina
6. communicate effectively-talking and listening
7. Be able to direct and superivise (RN)
8. be able to follow orders (LPN) and (AIDES)
9. use judgement and make decisions
