LPN EMPLOYMENT

Posted over 1 year ago State of Colorado needs to reinerate the nursing profession. I've been a LPN for 22 yrs and I'm on unemployment. I can't stand 12 hours and pass meds, because of a back injury, there is nothing wrong with my mind. LPN's are trained professionals, and need to be treated in that manner, CNA's ARE NOT TRAINED, for the duties of LPN's. Colorado states LPN"s CAN NOT DO MEDICARE CHARTING, (WHY?) Are we incompentent in some way, that in nursing school we didn't learn the correct way to chart, or the guidelines for Medicare charting. I worked in a long term facility two years ago as a charge nurse, I had a CNA come get me, because a RN was watching a resident die in front of her!!! The resident had no pulse and was cyanotic, and the RN was giving her the resident a breathing treatment!!??? I had the resident on the floor, and begin CPR, untill EMS arrived, FOUR nurses sat and watched me give her CPR, NOT ONE would help, there was no discussion later, after we heard the resident did expire. She sat in that wheel chair for 30 minutes with no one helping her. That RN was not reprimanded, and no one was to talk about it. So why is it I can't find employment?? Because of discrimination against ALL LPN's. ??? Does anyone have this problem?? LA Colorado |

| Posted over 1 year ago This is so becomig a terrible issue.. The government have to reinclude the LPN's to the nursing team..How did this ever get started, and why are schools continuing to graduate LPN's. There is something very wrong about this situation...Hugs,Teresa |

| Posted over 1 year ago " This has been an ongoing issue for years, across the United States.I ,too, used to work in the clinical aspect of hospitals, would see firsthand how LPNs were disrespected by RNs,( cursed at,reprimanded in front of other patients who were alert enough,etc.).Yes,it was reported, time and again. The only way,"significant measures", were taken about the RNs in question were if MDs were disrespected themselves. Then, and only then, were the," appropriate actions",taken and the RN was terminated." " Of course,RNs do have the ultimate responsibility for the patient; however,LPNs are trained to focus on specifics of clinical practice, similar to any physician specializing in their chosen field of medicine.**If physicians are obliged to respect one another, why can't RNs show due respect to LPNs and,"work together"? We have state licensures, too, and need to comply with scope of practice and are, also,"legally responsible", for every patient we care for, according to the State Nursing Law Practice." " I had been a patient in the hospital ER,on different occasions; I have witnessed RNs ,"become easily frustrated with CNAs",who have too many questions, unsure about specifics, whereby the RNs reply,"Christ, I'll do it,myself!"If RNs claim to be overwhelmed about having so much to do,and so little time to complete needed tasks, then," PUT THE LPNs BACK INTO THE TEAM NURSING @ THE HOSPITALS".

| Posted over 1 year ago I will have graduated 2 yrs ago next month I will have had my license for 2 yrs in April I will be getting my FIRST job in a couple of weeks when others in my class have been job hopping for the last 2 yrs i have been struggleing with low end minimum wage jobs to survive i thought it was some sort of gender discrimination until I found out that others in my class are having the same difficulties i was. with so many programs in the area churning out new LPN's every 6 months the job market is flooded with inexperienced nurses when there are jobs posted every day looking for LPN's but the jobs require 6 months to 2 yrs of expierence just to apply for them so the problem is how do you get a job with no expierence and how do you get expierence without a job?
