| Posted over 1 year ago Hi, Go to your State Board of Nursing, and you will find all required to reinstate your license. In Texas, if your license has been placed in "inactive" or "retirement" status, you would have to attend a nurse refresher course and mandatory clinical hours. All of this takes approximately 6-8 months. Also, check to see if your State BON requires CEUs in a specific topic. Texas has a mandatory CEU requirement in Hep C. Hope this helps you to re-enter.

| Posted over 1 year ago I always forget one more thing to tell you...if you ever question the legality of what you are asked to do, or have been told what to do, go immediately to your State Board of Nursing. I did this, long ago when I was told to start IVs. This was not in the area of LVN practice in Texas. However, the State Board of Nursing told me that I could start IVs provided the doctor was "in the house". I always check first, because my license to practice nursing represents my integrity, my adovaction to my patients and the safety of those I care for as a nurse. Good luck with your re-entry....it is well worth the process, especially because you will be brought completely up-to-date on everything regarding medicine, the medical language, and your own past experience will inhance your re-entry. I found amazing, that the sites for an IM injection had changed...I never liked to give an IM in the butt.
