Charged but found not guilty?

A few years ago I got into a verbal spat with a neighbor over my 5 year old son. The neighbor had yelled at my child while he was in our fenced in back yard playing. I had gone into the house to check on my other child, who was napping. My son comes in crying. I went over to speak with the neighbor, and it ended up with us cussing each other out. We both called the police, and he told the police I threatened him (which I did not). We went to court, and the judge ruled Not Guilty. This is the only trouble I have ever been in my whole life. I don't even have speeding tickets!! Do you think this will stand against me being a nurse? I was charged with a misdeameanor, but again, found not guilty.

I want to start taking my pre-reqs this summer for an ADN and would appreciate so much any help or advice.

If you were found "not guilty," I can't imagine that anything regarding the misdemeanor charge will still be hanging around by the time your nursing school does a background check. I think you're fine. Stop worrying and just do your very best in school, and if you can find time to fit it into your schedule, you might want to consider doing some volunteer work in your community. That will certainly outshine any blemishes in your past. I wish you all the best!

Well, Congratulation on your new career.. God Bless you and keep you safe in your future endeavors.. As far as  applications go, I think unless it is expunged, it may stay on your record.. Even though you were found not -guility. Go and ask the police dept. They can look it up..I think, it depends on how the question is worded. Be careful.  Although I don't think you have anything to worry about, it they find it on a back ground search and you didn't disclose it, that is grounds for termination... We all have spat's when it comes to our children.... Best of luck to you and please keep us posted..Hugs,Teresa

I'm prepared for it to show up, and I definitely plan to disclose it. I'm just worried they'll go, oh, you were charged with something, so poof! You're out.

You would hope at least you wouldn't hear the poof..Just kidding.. You know I wouldn't worry about it and they haven't asked yet so relax until it happens. It is good to be prepared though. Keep me posted and best of luck to you...Hugs, Teresa

I actually went through a similar situation. I have five beautiful children, and a lot of stressing events over last year.

I worry a lot about the incident that I found myself in.

I talked to advisors at my school, and I should be ok.

There isn't one other thing I'm more passionate about, other than

Than being a mother, that thrills my heart. I pray all works out accordingly

meant4nursing, like the last entry, I hope that this goes well for you... I don't know what happened to you, but I think if it was minor, you should be OK with your choice of careers..Best of luck to you and please keep us posted..Hugs, Teresa
