I am currently 60 years old.  Several years ago I left the education field to start my own business.  It didn't work out and I found that I wasn't welcome in the education field, perhaps due to my age. Since then i have looked for work in a variety of areas where I have experience and have found that I an either too qualified or too old to start at the bottom.  I am considering nursing as a second career as I find the work interesting and enjoy working with people.  I also thought that with the shortage of nurses my age wouldn't be a problem.   However, I was recently told that I was mistaken.  Does anyone know how tough it is for a new nurse who is over 60?

Hiya, I first would like to say, wlecome to NL..It's nice to meet you..I can only say to you, that during my teaching time, I have graduated wonderful future nurses at you age and even a smidge older.. I can't say that at your age, you will have any more of a difficult time obtaining a position than any other graduate. I do say that there are positions available, as long as you are flexible while getting expierence.. Then it will be easier afterwards.. I also would like to say, God Bless you in all of your future endeavors and please keep us posted... Teresa
