Hello, I just graduated from nursing school and have taken a positiion at a LTC facility. They gave me 5 hours of gen. orientation and then 2 days on the cart in one hall and 1 day on another on the day shift. The next night I worked by myself on the first hall. I had a very difficult time and felt like I could barely finish 1 round of meds and another started. I was overwhelmed, scared I would make a med. error, and never really got to any treatments. Then a pt was found on the floor so that put me back to end of shift with most things but meds not done. Plus I still haven't had computer training. This has left me like I let myself be set up for failure. I was wondering if I can handle the job or if it is normal to feel this horrible dread and sense of making mistakes because of my lack of training. I don't want to put my liscence in jepardy because I'm in over my head. Thoughts anyone?

Thanks, I feel like I need more training though. I decided I would talk with them and see if I could have another night or two of training and try to learn some tricks.
