Hi All! I just joined this site and enjoying reading some interesting posts. I am currently waiting for acceptance into the next semester for the Nursing Program at my school in Jacksonville, FL. I have applied to both the RN program and the LPN program. After 2 years of pre-reqs, it's been a long time coming and I am happy to finally be at this point where I am able to apply! I am a mixture of feelings right about now! Terrified, excited, nervous, scared, etc.! I am hoping to get accepted first into RN, but with it being such a competitive and difficult program to get into I am prepared to not get accepted first try. That is why I have applied to the LPN program as a back up plan.

Any advice is welcomed! And good luck to any other hopefuls out there!!

Mandiestaz... Welcome to NL..I have no doubt that you will find this site as exciting and I do. Congratulations on completing your prerequsites. That was fun, wasn't it? On to bigger and better things.. Please know that your feelings are those that we all go through prior to entering nursing school. Hopefully, once in, that will pass with extreme excitablity. the new things you will learn and witness, the awesome friends you will make for a very long time.. So, best of luck to you and please keep us posted..Teresa

Mandi, may I give you some other words of encouragement, please.. I heard once a very wise brother of my say, 5 years will go by whether you are in school or not.. The question is, where do you want to be in 5 years.. Best wishes to you......

Hi Theresa, just wanted to update.. I recieved my letter yesterday and unfortunately it wasn't good news! Only 96 out of 355 applicants were accepted, I was not one of them. I was pretty bummed, but can't say I was really expecting to get in on the first try anyways. I know my scores weren't very high, so it's not a huge dissapointment. This just means that I am going to study up and retake the NAT (entrance exam for nursing program we have to take here) and try to better my scores so I have a better chance next time. Luckily the next application period is coming up April 1st, that is for the Fall semester. I guess I'm not totally shot on getting in the RN program this year, and have to go with LPN. I still have a chance.. I am not giving up.

Trying to look at the bright side of things, at least this way I will have my summer off! I am currently in my last prereq right now so after this class ends in May I will have nothing else to take! That means I will have a 2 month break before either program begins, whew... looking forward to that. haven't had a break in 2 years.. so it will feel good!

Thanks for all your encouragement and I will continue to need it :)

Mandiestaz, 1st of all, I like to say that I'm sorry that you weren't accepted for this term.. But you know they say, Every thing happens for a reason. I'm a true believer of that. Who know's why, but maybe it's to make you stronger. I have no doubt that you will read your goal. Do what you have to do and I know that there is a place for you in the program.. Congratulations, on finishing your pre-req's. we al know that's a feat in itself.. God Bless you and please keep us posted.. Hugs,Teresa
