Ok, so what do you think of the following?

1. Facilitating advanced education and a culture of learning

2. Development of a National Nurse Residency (Transition-to-Practice) Program

3. Increased diversity and transcultural/transgenerational training

4. Removal of scope of practice barriers

5. Putting science into practice

6. Shortage of nursing school faculty

On a lighter side of the question:

Keeping up with all the changes in health care.

For example, all the new government restrictions and requirements on documentation

The aging population is a challenging issue

Because more people are and will continue to need care, while there aren’t enough nurses and physicians to meet that demand.

The role of nurses have changed over the years.

The role of nursing has become that of a patient advocate, not just an order taker.

What are the most important skills a nurse can have?

You have to have common sense, know your patient, think ahead and be skilled in time management.

A lot of nursing is common sense combined with a solid core education, good technology and a big dose of compassion.

I don't know if this really relates to the question asked - but one of the challenges I see in the area I live in is shortage of Nurse Educators.  Another thing is all the nursing programs in our area are day programs - would be nice to have programs offered at night for working people like myself that are looking to go into the nursing field but can't afford to quiet work in order to do so.

There is one evening/weekend program at one of the community colleges in the area i live in but that is about an hour drive for me.  The community college in the town I work in has recently started an ADN program and is looking to possibly start a night program but not sure when that will be.

Maybe then, you could start some prereq's then.. You know nursing and law school will require them.....

I only have one pre-req to complete in order to apply to an ADN program - A&P I and II - well I guess that is two.  I plan on completely those soon and also working on pulling my GPA back up as well.  Looking at some other options also.  If it is the Lord's plan for me to be a Nurse I know one day I will.  HE is just preparing me during this time.
