Posted about 1 year ago Hi nurses and to-be nurses =) I took my very first PN boards exam on january 27, 2011 I was close to passing, but "failed" it! ='( it hit me hard like a rock and starting crying and got depressed and started thinking "Negative" thoughts (like i dk if this the path for me =( ). However with the support of my loved ones, I am and "WILL" be taking it again. I am currently in school right now, but I need some help, advice, study guides, etc that will get me back on track. I plan to take it within a month (around my spring break from school around the end of March 2012). Please let me know you folks can help =) |

Posted about 1 year ago shelbyc, 1st, I'd like to say, Welcome to NL.. I'm sorry that you had trouble with your boards.. You say that you are back in school, so I'm sure what you are reviewing will be what you need to study.. Just have some faith, too.. There are some great quizzes here on this site that too, can assist you.. Check them out. Also, there are free exams on the internet that you can try too. I think though, I would talk with your instructor and see what he/she recommends. Best of luck, and God Bless you..Please keep us posted..Teresa

Posted about 1 year ago Hi TeresaRN! Thanks for your warm welcome =). I am still in school but not currently not enrolled in the nursing program. I was in it for about a year and finished my courses that enabled me to get my license. I do plan on going as far as getting my BSN, but I didnt make it to the RN program. Its actually very complicated to explain. I know most nursing programs you automatically get into the RN program, but not mines =(. A certain course we call N230 which is called "clinical immersion" which we have alot of hands on experience at the hospital. In this N230 course, we have several subjects to pass in order to continue on to the RN program. We needed to pass a math exam with alteast a "B", the N230 course itself with a "B", our clinical scores need to be "3's" in all categories (they were scored from 0-4), and we needed to pass the HESI exit PN Exam with a 73% (I know what your thinking, "Soo strict!) LOL! Anyways, if you didnt meet the passing grade for any of these subjects, we would have to withdrawal from the program and retake the N30 course again =(. In my case what happened was I successfully passed everything expcept for the HESI Exit PN Exam which was at the end of the N230 course, I got a 71.23% =( (about 2% off). Just because of that, I have to retake the N230 course once again and I NEED to take my LPN boards exam and pass it in order for me to move on to the RN program =( & because I didnt pass my boards exam, Im starting to feel the pressure =(. If I dont pass this exam, I wont be able to move on with the next class in the summer =( im sorry to vent but I really need to pass the LPN boards because it will put my nursing education on delay and the fact that Im already withdrawaled from the nursing program and not with my class, Im just taking it day by day. You seem like a very nice and caring person and very glad to connect with you =)

Posted about 1 year ago shelbyc, Thank you for your kind words. I can honestly say, your program is one I have never heard of.. Can you tell me what State you are in..That's really very tough..I hope that you succeed, you certainly earned it. Like I previously wrote to you about, there are really so many books that you can study.. The study guides are usually program specific.. You will be searching for the PN-NCLEX. Find the one that is most comfortable for you. But also remember there are some on this site and on the internet that will assist you..Again, welcome to NL.. I do look forward to chatting with you further.. Teresa

Posted 9 months ago Hiya Luna anxd stokes .. I know you are nervous about your exam.. this is what I tell my students..Study every day for about 4-6 hours..Take Sunday off and just relax and have fun...When it's the night before your exam, have a good dinner and go to bed earlier than usual... No more studying.. In the morning have a good breakfast and try to be calm.. You know what you know and if you cram, you'll get confused..Try to meditate to stay calm. Go to your exam and relax... Best of luck to you both.. Please keep us posted.. Teresa
