Posted about 1 year ago Ok first and foremost I am a US citizen and graduated Nursing in the Philippines last year Apr2011. I applied for the NCLEX RN exam on July2011 and as a result of my application,BRN said I didnt meet the minimum requirements of MS and OB so they want me to find an accredited nursing school here in CA to retake both theory and praticum of MS and OB. What should I do?I have a cousin who graduated to same school as I and applied a year earlier than me and she got approved. Its just unfair, I want to know whats the diffrence of those who got approved to those who didnt.. I feel like my Nursung dreams is crumbling down but i dont want to lose hope. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you |

| Posted about 1 year ago If you're gonna take it in Phil... you're still going to have to choose a state. And if its CA... will probably get the similar results. |

| Posted about 1 year ago I just called National University. They can help, but you have to have a meeting with the associate director and give a writen sampled essay. From there, you are determined if you will be on a waiitng list (waiting for one of their students that is already in the program to drop out or fail); so it is not a gaurentee.. more like a waiting game. The one thing I like about this school is that each subject is 8 weeks, which is a lot faster than one full semester of 4-5 months. I know there's a National University in L.A. Maybe you can try calling that branch. Let me know how that works out. good luck! |

| Posted about 1 year ago i was wondering if you could actually take the nclex back in the philippines if anyone actually knows the answer. i have also thought that you would still need to pick california as your state but then that would mean that california is also blocking all of the nurses in philippines trying to take the california board right? well if anyone knows the answer it would be helpful or if anyone knows any nurses in the philippines trying to apply to california and got accepted or denied that would also help. thank you. |

| Posted about 1 year ago I had a meeting with the assistant director of the nursing department at National Univeristy last week. I was able to get into an OB class in the fall, however, the medical surgical class is a bit harder to get into. If you haven't already, try National University; they are willing to help you. |

Hello shfanks, do you how much is the tuition more or less? Can you pls give me the name of the person you talked to. Thanks a lot.
just got an update. If you talk to your evaluator, you can find out which part of Med-Surg you will need to take. My evaluator said that i actually am able to take the advanced part of MS. Medical-Surgical Nursing II: $1422.00 This does not include the misc. fees (livescan fingerprints and fees, scrubs, books, cpr class, etc.). so you're looking at under $8k. It is a lot, im sure, but we are not in the philippines anymore. if no other school will separate their classes from their program to help those who already have their nursing degrees, then this is your best bet. you can always apply for loans and pay it back later when you start working. if i were you, i would start and finish the requirements that you have now before CA-BRN update their requirements and ask for more. The worst thing they could do to us is not accept our degrees at all. i hope we will never have to reach that point.
Good Luck! |

| Posted 11 months ago OMG, that is quite a bit of money.. Let's hope there are some grants also that you will not have to pay back..I would also look for some scholarships. Every couple of thousand dollars counts.. Best of luck to all of you.. Hugs, Teresa |

| Posted 10 months ago @zaj1002 i dont remember the initial person that i talked to. do not email national university (as they will prompt you to), it will take atleast two weeks for them to respond. Be persistent and continuously call their line. They are bound to answer one of the calls.. thats what i did. Just call the nursing department, tell them your situation, and let them know that you are looking to attend the non-candidate meeting. The assistant needs to put you on the list in order for your to attend and meet with the nursing director for the non-candidate meeting. The location is the rancho bernardo campus in northern san diego. |
