I thought I had already started this discussion topic but can't seem to find it if I did - sooo, I'm just going to start it again.
Would like to hear from anyone that is a single parent that is in nursing school already or is planning on going to nursing school.
Blessings to All
Sandra

MrsSelf, Congratulations on your classes, Have you considered a study group.. If you are having difficuolty with science, I'm sure there are others also.. How about a senior student tutoring you.. Just some suggestions.. Best of luck to you..Please keep us posted.. Teresa

Hi MrsSelf

First of all - Congratulations to you!  I know it must be hard to do with 4 kids.  But strong determination and descipline will pay off in the end.

I agree with TeresahRN about the study group.  I am sure you are not the only one that is struggling.  Check with others in your class and if there is no study group already - organize one.

Best of luck to you!  Keep us posted!

Oh - are you working while going to school?

Taking my ACT this weekend!!  Something I wish I had done while I was in high school - the Math is what I am worried about the most.  I am keeping a positive attitude about it though.  Ready to start back to college so I can finish my pre-requisites and apply to Nursing school.

Thanks TeresahRN - I am so excited about starting my journey to get into Nursing School!!!  I wish August were already here so I can finish up my pre-reqs and be in nursing school already.  I get more and more excited each day and really feel this is the path that I am meant to take.  Applying to both the LPN program and the ADN program - and praying that I get accepted into one of them.  If I get into the LPN program I will work on bridging over to RN as soon as I can - and will gradually work on my BSN.  For once in my life - I really feel good about this and not doubting if I can do it.

I appreciate all your support and advise.

Well, I went and took the ACT Saturday.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  I feel that I did really good - just have to wait now on my scores.  Praying that I made the score I need in order to get into Nursing School.  SO EXCITED!!

I DID IT!!  I scored a 19 on my ACT and had the subscore I needed in Reading that is required for one of the nursing programs I am checking into.  I am going to retake it in June to see if I can score higher but I am sooo proud of what I got.  Not bad for someone that has been out of school 25 years.

Awaiting response back from the local community college to see if I can register there for fall semester to finish my non-nursing and pre-reqs so I can apply to nursing school.  This is the CC that I have been having issues with.  Praying and keeping my fingers crossed that they will accept my appeal letter and allow me the chance to come back.  If they don't - Plan B.

Hi Daffney

Thank you.  And welcome to NL and Single Parents and Nursing School.  You sound like you have your hands full.  I am so ready to get into a nursing program and work as a nurse.  Once I get my ADN I plan on bridging over to BSN.  Once I get my BSN I would like to do Legal Nurse consulting.  I have been waiting for this a long time.  Wish there was a way I could get a job now in a hospital.

AWWWW! Ya'll don't make me cry.  I don't know how I missed your posts but I am just now seeing them.  I tell you - this has been a hard journey but I know I can do it.  There are still days that I want to throw my hands up in the air and say just forget it.  I know it will get harder before it gets better.  I haven't even gotten into nursing school yet and can only imagine what it will be like when I do.  But having such great friends on NL that keep me motivated and inspired helps so much.  Thank Ya'll!
