I am 59 and have been a CNA in home care--mostly working with clients in hospice or those with dementia--for a year. (In my 20s I was a respiratory tech in hospitals and do not want to go back to that setting.) However, I can't survive on CNA pay. Also, I want to know more and be able to offer more as a caregiver. I became a CNA after my massage business went belly up in the recession. Most of my employed life I have been in some type of health care or a teaching position.  Academic work is not difficult for me. LPNs in my area of the country are valued in both hospice work and home care. Is my age a serious obstacle?
