I am an RMA, but I want to go back to school to become an RN. Every school that I see, says that I need to be a LNA in order to qualify. Is that true? I can't find any information on it, so I figured that I could ask a nurse.

Megan, What is a LNA? Maybe a LPN? If that is correct, I have never heard that it was mandatory or you to have to be one to get into the other...Best of luck.. Please keep us posted.. Maybe we will get some other answers rom other members...Teresa

An LNA is a licensed nursing assistant, the title depends on what area you live in. I live in Mass so we are CNA's but if you live in New hampshire they are called LNA's. I know of an LPN school in New Hampshire that requires you to be an LNA before you even start the LPN program. Hope this helps GoodLuck

It is so confusing, because as a Registered Medical Assistant I can do the things the an LNA and LPN can do. I think I might have to call the schools and ask.

I'm also a CCMA and the difference is giving showers or bed baths which is what LNA does, Medical Assistant doesnt, making beds, feeding residents, getting them dressed and showered once again lol Medical Assistants don't this. I guess it depends on the state you live in. Theres a list of other things MA's don't do. I wish you the best of luck.
